In the three most recent videos in playlist, I'm using this Martin OM-21: not professional audio equipment (or player) :-)
I bought this beautiful OM-21 on eBay last November for $2000, and it has the wonderful, balanced sound that you'd expect from a Martin. It's also surprisingly lightweight for a rosewood guitar, and the neck is buttery smooth. I play mostly bluegrass though, and I've been missing the thunderous boom that only monster dreadnoughts can give you, and at a free Mass Street Music clinic the other day, I "accidentally" found the dreadnought of my dreams, so I've got to let this one go. :-) This OM-21 came to me with a bison horn nut and saddle, so I had head luthier Mike H. at Mass Street Music in Lawrence, Kansas, replace them with bone, add unslotted ebony bridge pins (a la Collings and vintage Martins), and give it a set-up for an extra $100. I just had it checked out as Mass Street (April 23rd), and there wasn't a thing that needed done. As well as possible, in the pics above, I showed a ding on the bass side of the lower bout (smaller than a pencil eraser), and a slight ding on the headstock (both there when I bought it). There's also several light finish scratches on the top, and there's an "L" shaped smudge mark where my right forearm goes that are both my fault (which is why I can't have nice black, glossy-topped things). :-) Unfortunately, with the gloss top, I can't get the scratches and smudge mark to show up very well in pics.
Considering the two dings, light finish scratches and smudge mark, I'm asking $1750, plus shipping and PayPal fees (if applicable), so you can have a gorgeous, top-notch guitar that you don't have to worry about making the first marks on. OHSC included. A 48 hour approval period is included, with the buyer paying return shipping and insurance. I sell a lot on the Cafe, so if you're not in love with this guitar, I wouldn't want you to keep it- that being said, it's a fantastic guitar, so there's a great chance that you'll find it's a gem! :-)
I'll be taking it to Mass Street Music to package it up, and they ship all over the world, so you can rest assured it will be done right!
Thanks for taking a look,
Scott
